Restoration

We will make awesome…better.

The Road Ahead

Preservation Golf acquired ACC in August 2021 with the express commitment of restoring it to its former stature as one of the best in the LA basin. Over the next couple of months we’re going to be kicking up a little dust. The condition of the fairways, bunkers, and greens will be revitalized. The trees will undergo extensive pruning and cleaning. Buildings will be updated and food service will be restored.

We are sprinting to have the golf course hitting on all cylinders by April 2022 but we promise to minimize any disruption to your play. Major course renovations will be posted on this site. Please check back regularly.

Meet Our Superintendent

Jose Casillas is a long time veteran superintendent. He spent most of his career as the caretaker of Sierra La Verne Country Club. He loves to take a hands on approach to maintenance so you will see him most often on the golf course behind a tractor or tinkering to perfect the irrigation.

Jose is very knowledgeable and generous with his time, so if you see him, please feel free to ask him any questions you might have. Contact: [email protected]

The Trees

ACC is planted with thousands of trees. Native oaks mix with white walnuts, sycamores, eucalyptus, palms, olives, peppers, and pines. They are an invaluable part of our parkland style golf course providing both beauty and challenge to every round.

Pruning: We have hired local arborist Craig Anderson to embark on a major restoration of the health of our trees.

Nothing is wasted. All of the tree waste is being converted to either lumber, firewood, or into the mulch which we are re-spreading on the grounds to improve soil moisture and weed abatement.

The Grounds

ACC has Bermuda fairways, roughs, and tees and bent grass greens. Water quality is excellent. Restoring the health of the course is our highest priority.

Aerification: The greens will be aerified the first week of April and October.

Turf Preparation: (Winter). Once the Bermuda goes into dormancy, slow release granular fertilizer will be spread and pre-emergent herbicides will be sprayed to promote turf growth.

Bunkers: (Spring). Drainage will be addressed in all bunkers after which new sand will be added.

The Buildings

Most of the building at ACC were built in the late 1960’s in the mid-century modern style. There are approximately 50,000 sf of buildings including the clubhouse, pool complex, the golf shop, and the ACC Grille.

Golf Shop: The interior has been completely renovated to house our new golf shop.

ACC Grille: The ACC Grille will go under an extensive renovation to increase the patio area for al fresco dining. Food service will resume December 2021.

Clubhouse: (Three year capital plan) The clubhouse was closed at the start of Covid and will not re-open until extensive renovations are made. Check back for updates.
